Inside Harriss Jones Lawyers: Monthly Firm Highlights

With February coming to an end, we’d love to share some happy snaps and updates with you!

We attended the St George Sutherland Law Society Opening of Law Term Dinner on Wednesday 19 February, hearing from NSW Law Society Councillor Jade Tyrrell on the Supreme Courts implementation of a ban on AI in our courts. You may have seen the recent news involving solicitors caught out using AI in their evidence, with fake cases being cited. Our team is now up to date on the use of AI in court matters and the importance of how AI affects our professional obligations to you.

In other news, Kathryn recently completed an intensive two-day Collaborative Practice Training for wills and estates.  Collaborative practice is a dispute resolution process which sees clients and their lawyers enter into an agreement to ensure a meaningful negotiation process for all involved without resorting to litigation. This valuable addition to our services will benefit clients navigating estate administration or challenging a will.

In January we announced a big step forward with the firm now offering Family Law services. Kathryn Harriss and Seth Harlen will assist clients navigating the complexities of the Family Court. On Monday 25 February, Kathryn and Seth attended the St George Sutherland Law Society Family Law CPD Day to get up to date on the latest key issues in Family Law, as well as hearing from Senior Judicial Registrar Liana Whitten on the topic of contravention applications. If you need some advice on your matter, we are offering a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Book now on our website.

You may have also seen some new social media posts going up, with our new series “Meet the Team” starting with Kathryn and Melanie. We look forward to sharing more of these in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all our valued clients and congratulations to all those who’ve recently settled their property transactions. Another milestone achieved! If you are looking to buy or sell, need a new will or advice on an existing one, start a new business, or in the throws of a family matter, give us a call on (02) 9575 7541 or book an appointment on our website www.hjlaw.com.au.

We look forward to assisting you.
